Cuban Salsa Classes & Dancing in Cardiff & Cwmbran
Frequently Asked Questions...
If you have a question not listed here, please
contact us.
1) Do I need to bring a partner?
No. We place you in partners at the beginning of the class and rotate partners every few minutes so you will get a chance to dance with everyone in the class.
It’s the best way to learn!
2) Do I need to book for the classes?
No. The classes are run on an informal drop-in basis. There is
no obligation that you attend further classes - so come along and give it a try!
3) Can I start any week?
Yes, just come along to the appropriate class level.
If you are completely new to salsa, don't worry - the Beginners Class assumes no previous experience of dancing salsa!
4) Which level class should I come to?
Come along to the class that you think you will feel most comfortable in.
See our
Beginners,
Improvers and
Cuban Rueda pages for more information. If you are unsure,
try the Beginners Class
and see how you feel - if you find it easy then you can do the Improvers class on the same night.
If you are still unsure, please contact us.
5) I am new to Cuban Salsa, but I have danced other salsa styles before. Which class level should I come to?
It is recommended that you start in the Beginners Class to learn the movements unique to Cuban style.
However, your familiarity with other salsa styles should enable you to pick up these basic moves quickly and progress onto the higher level classes.
6) Do I need to wear special shoes or clothes?
No. Clothes should allow you to move comfortably and to cool down if you get hot from dancing. Most people dress smart casual.
Again, with footwear, it's best to wear shoes that you are comfortable in. Cuban Salsa doesn't involve spinning in the way that
other salsa styles do - so it's fine to wear trainers.
7) I'd like to learn salsa but I'm not at all good at dancing!
Don't worry, that's what we're here for! Everyone can improve the way they dance. We teach you slowly,
and you can do as many Beginners Classes as you like before you progress up to the Improvers Class. And everyone who comes to the
classes is very friendly!
8) How long does it take to learn salsa?
As an absolute beginner, you can expect to learn enough from your first class to
enable you to practise with a partner during our freestyle dancing sessions. After that,
you will continue improving - what's important isn't how long it takes you to learn, but that
you have fun whilst learning!
9) Am I too old to dance salsa?
Not at all! People of all ages enjoy dancing salsa.
10) Are you aiming your classes at students?
No! We welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to our classes.
